ADA Gear
Haigh guitar and ADA mp1 guitar rig

During the 80`s I used nothing but Kramer Baretta`s, JCM800 Marshall stacks , Boss pedals and occasionaly in the studio I used an ADA Mp1 midi preamp.

After 10 years of back breaking effort, lugging around the above gear I finally decided to go the rack route and compact it all down. I retired the Kramers,(a good friend of mine Shane Haigh offered to build me a couple of custom guitars to any spec I wanted more later) purchased a rack unit stuck in my MP1 along with a Rocktron replifex and an ADA power amp and found a great sounding setup that was immensley powerful and portable. The ADA Mp1 has been the backbone of my setup since that day and has proven to be a reliable companion. It has its faults, mainly noise but it is a versatile unit that holds its own even against stiff competition from the Mesa Triaxis and the ever popular Line 6 series of combos, pods and whatever they come out with next.

The Mp1 has managed to stay in the game mainly due to the efforts of people who have remained loyal to the cause, there are modifications to turn your MP1 into a rectifier clone or a JCM 800 on steroids and even a new product the 3TM which adds a third stage of valve/tube gain to the equation, taking you nearer and nearer to manic gain heaven. More info on the ADA modifications can be found here. An excellent website the Adadepot is run by my good friend Jurrie Teeuwen (R.I.P. my friend) and a few other fanatics, here you can find anything on any product ever brought out by ADA check it out.

As for guitars well I`ve been spoilt, Shane built me two guitars both identical except in colour. They are loaded with Seymour Duncan JB humbuckers and alnico pro IIs have swamp ash bodies, birds eye maple necks, rosewood fingerboards and are a dream to play. If you are looking for a custom made guitar then look no further than Haigh guitars.
